The month of May through to June have been exceptionally busy in the shed the garage sale turned out to be a major success with a good turn out from the Moffat community all items sold went to help with the running costs of the shed.
We had a bit of unwelcome news from our landlord Dumfries and Galloway Council, we have been requesting a discount on our rent as we are paying the full commercial rate at the moment from establishing a contract for industrial unit we use for our Men's shed. The news came back that there is no possibility of a rent reduction even though we are a registered charity. At the moment times are hard all round so grant applications are difficult to bring to a positive conclusion, our garage sales and furniture restoration and other community projects all assisting in supplying funds to assist in our running costs. If anyone can assist us trying to get our rent reduced please get in contact.
We were extremely lucky to receive a large donation of woodscrews of all sizes for the shed along with a substantial amount of soft and hard wood, which will allow us to continue to work on the various projects we undertake in the shed.
There have been numerous projects undertaken from members of the community, furniture repair, bird houses, bird tables, cutting wood within the work shop.
We have also held an open day for the ladies of Johnston Bridge where they we given the chance to participate in Wood Turning, Bird Box manufacture, Stain Glass production, and Wood Branding , if any group would like to sample a taster of the Men's Shed please get in touch.
We are on the lookout for a storage area within Moffat to house our project overspill again we need your help to find an area at a very low price if you can help please get in touch.
